This is Canada’s immigration program that allows skilled workers through three primary economic class immigration programs.
These programs include the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).
Eligible candidates can upload their profiles onto the federal government’s website.
They get a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on education, language proficiency, age, and work experience.
- Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)
PNP is another noteworthy pathway for Canadian immigration.
Through PNP, Canada’s territories and provinces can nominate people who want to immigrate to Canada and stay in a particular province.
Every province and territory in Canada, except for Quebec and Nunavut, has its separate PNP. Each has its unique criteria to determine candidate eligibility.
You can apply for the PNP stream without an Express Entry profile. This is called the base stream. However, you can also apply to PNP streams aligned with Express Entry and have more options. These are termed enhanced streams.
By receiving a provincial nomination via these streams, you, as an Express Entry candidate, earn an additional 600 CRS points. It ensures that you receive an invitation to apply for PR in a later Express Entry Draw.
- Other Federal Skilled Workers Programs
This is a targeted federal skilled worker program that welcomes certain candidates to earn permanent residence in Canada.
These programs include the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP), Agri-Food Immigration Pilot, Home Support Worker Pilot, and Home Child Care Provider Pilot.
The RNIP helps small and remote communities across the country to attract and retain foreign workers. On the other hand, the Agri-Food Immigration Pilot allows Canadian permanent residence to eligible temporary foreign workers to work in the Agriculture and Agri-Food industry. It requires candidates to have 12 months of work experience, have a high school diploma, and fulfill minimum language requirements.
The other two immigration programs provide pathways to permanent residence for foreign caregivers. However, caregivers must have a minimum of two years of work experience relevant to the program they are applying for.
- Family Class Sponsorship
Canada intends to welcome over 100,000 new immigrants annually to join their families. Accordingly, Canadian permanent residents and citizens can sponsor their parents, grandparents, spouses, common-law partners, and dependent children.
However, the program requires you to sign an undertaking document to sponsor your family. This document states that you will be responsible for the sponsored person.
